How to Heal Broken Heart Part 2

by Angie

Get An Ex BackUnfortunately when people go through a breakup, they sometimes turn to the wrong things as they work through the pain and disappointment. In part one of this series, I shared three things you should consider doing as you go through the healing process. Now I would like to briefly discuss three things you should avoid.

When someone experiences the loss of a close relationship, they often go through different stages of grieving. While each person handles these stages differently, it is not uncommon to fall into some of these more common traps.

1. Isolation – This occurs when you keep to yourself and shut out friends and family from your life.

2. Alcohol and Drugs – Substance abuse can become a big problem during times of despair, but it is only a temporary masking of the problem.

3. Self-Pity and Depression – It can be very easy to get so caught up in the pain and rejection that you shrink back into an unhealthy situation of wallowing in your problems.

You can probably see where I am heading with this. Don’t give up your passion for living. Believe me, you will get through this in time, even though your heart is breaking now.

If you feel like one of the traps described above is where you are, take some time and seek professional help. This will help keep you from sinking into depression which will zap your energy and your future happiness.

If you didn’t get a chance to read part 1 in this series, take a look. Here I talk about some of the things you can do to avoid the pitfalls described above and get your life back on track.
